Babywearing With Our LÍLLÉbaby Wrap

I’ve been baby wearing since my first child so it was only natural to continue baby wearing for me.

Even before E arrived, I knew that I wanted to baby wear once again. There is something I love about that closeness you get while doing so.  I feel like it’s not only comforting for babies but mothers as well.

I couldn’t help but gravitate towards blush and lavender tones during this pregnancy. That’s what happens when you have your first girl I suppose! So this Tie the Knot wrap by LÍLLÉbaby in blushing pink was a must for me.  I love that the material is incredibly soft and light enough that you can feel that your baby isn’t overheating.  No wonder E just instantly gets comfortable and falls asleep as soon as she’s tucked in!

Love having her so close and hearing her little snores.

We took a family walk around the neighborhood a few days ago and I decided to babywear E rather than in her carset-stroller since it was cold out.  One of the things I love most about this wrap is the fact that there is elastic to tie the ends.  Other wraps that I’ve used in the past don’t have this option.  You end up dragging the ends on the floor while you’re situating the wrap around yourself.  So being able to tie the ends so appeals to the germaphobe in me!

It’s been awhile since I last used a wrap but luckily LÍLLÉbaby included illustrated directions.  You can also find instructional videos on their site based on what type of carrier you’ve chosen.  I haven’t babyworn in awhile so I looked at both the illustrated directions and video for reference.  Once you remember the steps, it’s pretty easy to get down and adjust according to your comfort and baby’s comfort level.

Pocket in the front to put your phone or a paci.

I love that there is a pocket in the front.  Something that I never had with previous wraps that I’ve used.  It’s so convenient! I’ve found myself tucking my phone in there and a small burping cloth.

I loved being able to go on our weekly family walks again.  Being able to baby wear and use this LÍLLÉbaby wrap made it easy to not only have E close but push a stroller with W and direct O as we walked. She was snoozing the whole walk but that didn’t stop me from peeking in on her.

Our verdict?  Yes to this as a must have baby gear item. I’ve been using this around the house now that I’m slowly getting back to my routine of housework and chaos control manager.  E always falls asleep once she’s situated in whether at home or out and about.  It makes it easy for me to get things done but have her close if she doesn’t want to be in her bassinet or lounger.  This definitely helps because with 3 littles, I need all the hands I can use!

Baby’s First Shopping Trip with Binxy Baby

Shopping was a success thanks to Binxy Baby.  It made our first mama and daughter shopping trip easy!

A shopping trip was needed after spending almost two weeks at home since E has arrived.  It is especially needed since I was on bedrest since 26 weeks/mid-July!  However, I did decide not to be EXTRA brave and only took E with me.  I’m sure this is the first of MANY mama-daughter shopping trips.

Please note that I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.  Please note that this post also includes affiliate links.

My first shopping trips with the boys, as newborns, usually called for lugging the carseat into the store, placing it in the cart, and having minimal space in the cart. When W was born it sometimes called for baby wearing.  That wasn’t always an option because kids don’t cooperate all the time (shocker right?). I’d find myself putting one kid in the cart and either baby wearing or holding a kid while trying to maneuver the shopping cart and shop one handed.  Do-able but sometimes not always the best way to shop.

E’s first shopping trip in her Binxy Baby!

I was excited to try the Binxy Baby shopping cart hammock since it meant that I would have both hands free and ample space in the shopping cart to place items.  I’ve seen it pop up on Instagram from time-to-time but by the time I found out about it, W was at the point where he would rather be moving around. This is only recommended for use up until babies are 6-8 months of age and can sit up on their own.

Awake during our whole Target trip!

I decided to break ours in for the first time at Target because #momlife right?  It was easy to place the harnesses onto the sides of the cart.  There is also velcro straps for more security.  Once she was buckled in, E was more than content. The material used for the hammock portion is very strong and sturdy.  You can easily place your baby still buckled in their carseat in the hammock since it holds up to 50 pounds (it’s been safety tested) and has an extra strap to pull over the carseat.

Calm as can be in Binxy Baby.
Calm as can be in Binxy Baby.

For this shopping trip it was easier for me to have E in it this way.  She was awake when we parked and was getting squirmy in her carseat.  I was expecting fussing if I kept her in the carseat.  As we made our way around the store, there was nothing but cooing from E as she took in everything from her hammock.

It’s definitely a girls world!

Although this shopping trip only included one child, I can already see the benefits when shopping with all three of my kids. I can easy have W sitting in the seat and E in herBinxy Baby Hammock.

Binxy Baby – E approved!

Gone are the days of me lugging around the carseat, placing it in the cart, and having minimal space for groceries thanks to Binxy Baby.  I love this floral printed one but they have other options to choose from.  This is definitely a must-have baby gear item!

Dreaming in a DockATot

Why I feel that a DockATot is a must have baby item, especially for newborns.

I added the DockATot to my list of must have baby essentials.  I recently gave birth and finally had the chance to see it in action for a week.  I wish I had this with my other children, especially with my second child who was a terrible sleeper, E is comfy and so happy snoozing away in it.

Please note that I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.  Please not that this post also includes affiliate links.

E sleeping soundly in her DockATot

We received the DockATot Deluxe+ (for babies that are 0-8 months) to use for our newest addition – E.  Our original plan was to use a collapsable bassinet to move from room to room. That proved to be a nice thought but deemed especially hard when you’re running on less than a couple of hours of sleep and adjusting to the newborn life once again.

Having the DockATot completely simplified this.  Anything to make sleep-deprived parents lives easier right?  The multiple handles makes it easy to grab and take it from room-to-room.  I take it up with me at night to use on our bed in the morning while we wait for the boys to wake up.  Once the boys wake up, I march them downstairs, scoop E up, and grab the DockATot to use on the playmat we have in our living room.

The handles on the sides and top make it easy to grab and go.
E snoozing in her DockATot in the morning while we wait for her brothers to wake up.

E is completely comfortable in it, whether she is awake or sleeping, but as you can see she loves sleeping in it!

I was excited to use this as it is considered a multi-functional lounger – for co-sleeping and playtime. Right now it’s mostly used for sleepytime.  E sleeps just as soundly on the playmat as she does if it was placed on the bed. The boys love watching E sleep in the DockAtot.  Being able to place this on the floor makes it easy for them to not only watch her but interact with her.

The DockATot can just as easily be placed on the floor.

I was surprised with how soft the material is and the overall craftsmanship. The DockATot, which is handmade in Europe and designed in Sweden, is OEKO-TEX certified, all natural and 100% cotton, and has been tested for breathability.  I love that E never seems to be too hot or too cold in it – always completely comfortable.

I had mentioned previously that this particular DockATot was sold out but the Deluxe+ in Pristine White but is now back in stock.  There is also a selection of other Docks and cover sets to choose from ready for purchase.  You can also purchase accessories such as toys/toy arches and travel bags.

Our verdict? DockATot is a must have.  I think E’s smile proves it.

Please note that the DockATot is not recommended to be placed in a crib or bassinet.  Additional safety tips are listed on the DockATot site.

TONTUU Box Review

tontuu-box review

Who doesn’t love getting snail mail or packages? Especially if it’s NOT bills or junk mail!  As mamas, we often forget that we’re allowed to partake in some fun and pamper ourselves too.  The TONTTU  Box is geared towards mamas with items for pampering and it includes goodies for your babes too!

Littlest man was excited about the box too

I was so excited to get the November TONTTU box and W was just as eager to take a look at the contents.

recipe

This Apple Banana muffins recipe was included in the box and I thought it was perfect for the upcoming US Thanksgiving holiday. Not to mention that both my boys love apples, bananas, and anything in muffin form.  Added plus is that it’s a healthy snack.

sili

I was really happy to see this reusable Sili squeeze pouch.    I literally was doing a happy dance while holding onto this. My youngest loves smoothies and since moving we misplaced our reusable pouches.

VOESH

These VOESH products are amazing.  I pampered myself yesterday, after I don’t know how long. Hair cut and color morning and an afternoon of mani-pedi pampering for me.  I loved that the gloves were semi-fingerless so I was still able to grab things.  Both my hands and feet feel super moisturized.  It also totally beats paying for these services at a spa since I had just spent a good amount of money on my hair.

brinware silicone placemat

So by the time I got around to opening more products, the boys were awake from their nap.  Hence, the tiny fingers in the photo of the brinware mat.  I love these types of mats – slip resistant, easy to clean, and able to stick to tables.  O loves that it has farm animals on it.  The only downside is that there is one and both boys were and are still arguing over it!

botany and wax

This Botany and Wax candle scent is perfect for November – Cranberry Marmalade.  It immediately reminded me of the holidays.  I also think you can never go wrong with candles.  I’m a sucker for candles and love hoarding the great smelling ones.

Mint Feather Co

Finally there was this cute Mint Feather Co bow.  I immediately thought of my best friend’s daughter when I saw this.  I thought about trying to convert it into a bow tie for the boys but I’m sure they both would have been arguing over it.

Overall thoughts?  I loved the variety of things in the TONTTU  Box.  There’s a good balance of items for mom and items for kids.  You’re able to pamper yourself and your kids get some freebies too! It would not only make a good subscription box for a mama to buy for herself but also as a gift to another mama.  Especially a mama that has an an upcoming birthday, baby delivery/shower, or even a present for the holidays.

Motherhood, not as pictured / Mighty Mamas – Week 3

We all had an idea of how motherhood would be like pre-kids. How has your view changed since then?
We all had an idea of how motherhood would be like pre-kids. How has your view changed since then?

We knew that motherhood requires changing diapers, kissing “ouchies” and doing whatever we possible can to care for our kids.  We only saw the broad picture of motherhood.  It’s only now being in the depths of motherhood do we truly see a different view.

This week the Mighty Mamas were asked: How is motherhood different than you pictured?

Motherhood involves a lot more heart and soul than I pictured.  While I was pregnant with my first child I knew that there was going to be so much love that I would have. I didn’t realize how intense of a love it would be.  I think the idea that I had of motherhood was just a glimmer and now that I’m starting to get deeper into motherhood, I’ve realized that there is so much love, patience, dedication in it.  I never
imagined how much I would still be able to grow as a person after becoming a mother.  My children teach me new things about myself almost every day.

I’ve learned to find beauty in motherhood and myself.  I’ve learned that laughing at myself occurs more than I thought.  I also learned that motherhood, especially postpartum, isn’t the same for everyone.

There are darker sides to motherhood, ones that are often not talked about, moments that need to be brought into the light.  PPD is something that is only touched on during pregnancy and something I definitely did not picture at all when I was thinking of motherhood before my kids.  Motherhood has definitely shown me that it is okay to reach out and ask for help.

I definitely never thought that I would find so much strength in motherhood nor did I imagine I would be drinking so much coffee!

How is motherhood different than you pictured?

Keeping Mama Guilt in Check / Mighty Mamas – Week 2

Keeping Mama Guilt in Check

Mama guilt.  I think it’s fair to say that any mama has felt some type of guilt.  We’re pulled in so many directions.  However often we’re going back and forth between doing whatever we possibly can for our children to trying to have our own sense of identity besides the title of Mom/Ma/Mama.

This week the Mighty Mamas were asked: How do you deal with or keep mama guilt in check?

This is something I’m still trying to figure out and learning to not hold on to. I sometimes see the mama guilt as an extension of the love I feel for my kids. I love them so much that more often than not I put them first. I remind myself that in order to be the best possible mama for my children I need to take care of myself too. Remembering that there needs to be a balance of Mama, wife, and self time is necessary.

This has been incredibly crucial for me while dealing with PPD.  I often hate taking time away from my kids to focus on therapy.  At the same time I know that this is what I need to do not only for myself but my boys too.  I only have a few years under my belt as a Mama, so I feel like I’m just beginning still trying to get my bearings on things.

Sometimes not everything gets done like the chores.  I’ve learned that it’s okay.  Sometimes I feel unhappy with how I could change how I handled something months before.  I’ve learned that motherhood is a learning process and it’s okay.  Sometimes I feel bad for wanting time to myself away from the kids.  I’ve learned, this is more than okay and is necessary.

How do you try to keep the mama guilt in check?
